Verdelle ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under applicable Indian law — including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 ("SPDI Rules"). By using the Verdelle app or website, you agree to this policy.
1. Who we are
Verdelle is a plant care application developed and operated from Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at hello@verdelle.ai.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information: your name and email address, provided when you sign in with Google.
- Location: your approximate city or geographic coordinates, used to fetch local weather data for care suggestions. This is provided voluntarily and can be updated or removed at any time.
- Plant data: the plants you add, their locations within your home, and care log entries you record.
- Chat messages: messages you send to the Verdelle AI agent. These are used to generate responses and stored to maintain conversation context.
- Waitlist email: if you submit your email on our website, we store it to notify you of the app launch.
Information collected automatically
- Device information: device type, operating system version, and app version, used for debugging and improving the app.
- Usage data: which features you use and how often, to understand how to improve Verdelle. We do not track individual actions in detail.
- Crash reports: anonymous error reports to identify and fix bugs.
Information from third parties
- Google Sign-In: when you authenticate with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture URL from Google.
- Weather API: we send your location coordinates to a weather data provider to retrieve local weather conditions. We do not share any personal identifiers with the weather provider.
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your Verdelle account
- Display and manage your plant collection and care logs
- Generate personalised plant care suggestions based on your plants, their locations, and local weather
- Power the AI chat agent, including maintaining the last 30 messages of context per conversation
- Send care reminders and notifications (only with your permission)
- Improve the app and fix bugs
- Communicate with you about product updates (only if you opt in)
- Comply with applicable law
We do not use your data for advertising purposes and we do not sell your personal data to any third party.
4. Sensitive personal data
Under the SPDI Rules, location data may be considered sensitive personal data or information. We collect location data only with your explicit consent, use it solely to provide weather-aware care suggestions, and do not share it with third parties except as described in Section 5 below.
5. How we share your information
We share your data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Google (authentication): to verify your identity during sign-in.
- Gemini API (Google): your chat messages and relevant plant context are sent to Google's Gemini API to generate AI responses. Google's data processing terms apply.
- Weather data provider: your location coordinates (latitude and longitude only, no personal identifiers) are shared to retrieve local weather.
- Infrastructure providers: we use cloud infrastructure providers to host and operate the app. These providers process data on our behalf under data processing agreements and do not use your data for their own purposes.
- Legal requirements: if required by law, court order, or government authority in India.
We do not share your personal data with any other third parties without your explicit consent.
6. Data retention
- Account data: retained for as long as your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
- Plant and care log data: retained as long as your account is active. You can delete individual entries at any time.
- Chat messages: the last 30 messages per conversation are retained to maintain context. Older messages are summarised and the originals deleted.
- Waitlist emails: retained until the app launches or you unsubscribe, whichever comes first.
- Usage and crash data: retained in aggregated, anonymised form for up to 12 months.
7. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: update or correct inaccurate data through the app settings or by contacting us.
- Deletion: request deletion of your account and all associated personal data.
- Withdrawal of consent: withdraw consent for location data collection at any time through your device settings. This will not affect the core functionality of the app, but weather-aware suggestions will no longer be available.
- Grievance: raise a privacy grievance with our Grievance Officer (see Section 11).

8. Data security
We implement reasonable technical and organisational security measures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, disclosure, or loss, in accordance with the SPDI Rules. These include encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), secure authentication via Google OAuth, and restricted access to personal data within our team.
No system is completely secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at hello@verdelle.ai.
9. Children's privacy
Verdelle is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email. Continued use of Verdelle after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
11. Grievance Officer
In accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the SPDI Rules, the name and contact details of the Grievance Officer are:

12. Governing law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of India. Any disputes arising from this policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.
